Ever feel like Alice through the looking-glass? Or that you took the blue pill? We are, indeed, living in interesting times, Truthseekers. The global protests over totalitarian regimes in the Mideast continue, arousing a few lethargic Americans to open their heavy-lidded, Fox “News” brainwashed, fast-food-drugged, video-game-anesthetized eyes to the fact that The American Experiment is headed down the memory tube forever. Madison ain’t Cairo, but at least a few of us refuse to go gently into that good night.
And you know it’s getting serious when US mayors are getting arrested for protesting US policies (domestic this time, not foreign).
Some now recognize that President Obama is not going to save our Republic from the ravages of the Bush Crime Family. If anything, he is continuing those stunningly destructive policies, escalating our (illegal) wars in the Mideast, refusing to fight for a universal health care system, ignoring his promises to protect worker’s rights and strengthen the middle class, and just selling out to Wall Street, the Banksters, and Big Corporations in general. The final blow is in the latest budget compromise, in which Obama accepted all of the Neocon’s demands and gave away the long-promised representation of our nation’s capitol city in Congress.
Proving there is still some fight left in our ravages political system, Vincent Gray, mayor of Washington, D.C., was arrested Monday for protesting the disastrous budget and Obama’s selling out DC to Bohener.
Let us hope that other elected officials follow suit and begin to speak out against this administration’s complete reversal of its political platform before we find ourselves dealing with our own Libyan or Egyptian-style system.
