Multiple Sclerosis International Federation’s World MS Day is Wednesday, May 25.  It’s a day to unite individuals, groups, and organizations around the world through special fundraising events and activities that promote a global awareness of the disease.

In Seattle, businesses will join in a common purpose: to do something very special for children affected by MS by donating a portion of their sales to MS Children’s Book.

For reasons unknown, Seattle has more people with multiple sclerosis (MS) per capita than almost anywhere in the world. William Khazaal, a business student at the University of Washington, was diagnosed with MS in 2009. He found that the scariest part of living with MS was explaining to his two young children what was happening to him. He realized that he was not alone in this difficulty and decided to do something about it.

He, along with a group of fellow UW students created a book as a University of Washington class project.  From there it grew into non-profit organization to publish the children’s book explaining MS to kids in a way they could understand. All the profits from the MS Children’s Book are donated to the National Pediatric MS Center, National MS Society, and CCSVI Alliance.

More details about the book can be found at www.mschildrensbook.com. Please join a participating restaurant or business on Wednesday, May 25th to help raise money for this cause. A portion of  sales for the day will be donated.
