Since opening as the Queen Anne Thriftway in 1971, the Metropolitan Market has expanded to six Puget Sound grocery stores, and for the next month, they want you to help them celebrate.

Wine tastings, kids’ Cupcake Royale sprinkle parties, celebrity chef book signings, and big celebration barbeques are planned at Metropolitan Markets until July 4th, among other events and activities. The food and beverage food samplings are Wednesdays – Fridays from 3:00pm – 7:00pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00am – 2:00pm and 3:00 – 6:00pm.

This week, June 8 and 9, its wine tasting featuring Metropolitan Markets’ own house wines. Complimentary samples of their new release MM Rosé #4, MM White #5 and MM Red #12 will be offered with bites of local NW Salumi artisan cured meats, Boat Street Pickles and artisan handcrafted cheeses.

Authors like Becky Selengut, chef and food writer; Alexandra Hedin, NW lifestyle and entertaining expert; and Tamara Murphy, sustainable food chef and restaurateur will be on hand to sign their books and tell you about their favorite northwest dishes.

Kids will love putting their own creativity into action decorating Cupcake Royale cupcake treats during a special “sprinkle party”. To find what’s happening at a Metropolitan Market near you, check out the website at http://www.metropolitan-market.com.

There are six area Metropolitan Market locations: Queen Anne, West Seattle, Tacoma, University District, Uptown and in Kirkland.
