Parade of Nations to March through Seattle – Traffic Might Be Snarled a Bit

The 94th International Convention Parade of Nations will be held on Tuesday, July 5 in downtown Seattle.  The parade will start at 10:00am at Seattle Center, so traffic could be tied up for a while downtown while the parade is going on. An estimated 10,000 Lions from over 100 countries, many in native dress, will march along with floats and bands.  The parade will assemble in Seattle Center, at the corner of Thomas Street and 2nd Avenue.  The parade begins at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Denny Avenue and disperses at the Washington State Convention Center.

One special addition to the parade this year is The Ohio State School for the Blind Marching Band.  It is the only blind marching band in the country, and possibly the world. The band achieved world acclaim when, on January 1, 2010, they marched in the 121st Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California, USA.

The Lions Club International is in Seattle from July 4 -8 for their 94th annual convention.
