Waterland Parade, Classic Cars and Wooden Boats in Des Moines this Weekend
Seafair Pirates, Seafair Clowns and Miss Seafair and her Princesses are all part of the Waterland Parade taking place in the Marina District of Des Moines on Saturday, July 23. It starts with a children’s parade at 5:45pm, and the Waterland Parade starts at 6:00pm. The parade route goes right through the center of Des Moines from 240th to 216th along Marine View Drive. The Kennedy Catholic High School Band and the Keystone Cops will be there to entertain. There will be floats and that famous pink “toe” truck from Lincoln Towing. Your kids are welcome to join in the parade! The line up will be at the Taco Time on Kent-DesMoines Road at 5:30pm.
And head over to the Des Moines Marina’s north parking lot for the 5th Annual Des Moines Classic Car and Wooden Boat Show between 8:00am – 4:00pm. It ends just in time to stroll over to the Marina District to get your seat for the Waterland Parade. Elvis impersonator Danny Vernon will perform at the show at 1:00pm. And there will be plenty of food on hand. Vendors, including Billy McHales, who will handle the beer gardens as well as serve up some of their special barbecue!
There will also be plenty of time to pick up fresh produce, and flowers during the Des Moines Farmers Market, which runs from 10:00am – 2:00pm in South Marina Park.
