If you haven’t gotten enough of Discovery Channel’s Shark Week, c’mon out this weekend to Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium in Tacoma for Sharks Day on August 6! Special activities will be held in both the North and South Pacific Aquariums. In the South Pacific Aquarium, a shark feed is scheduled at 11am with the sharks chomping on some of their favorite treats! Interpreters will be around before, during and after the feeding to discuss the sharks and answer any aquarium queries.
In the North Pacific Aquarium, a community tank interactive dive will take place above and below the water line at 2:00pm. A staff biologist will discuss the sharks and other various marine creatures that will be pointed out by a diver in the tank. Visitors also will be able to ask questions to the biologist and diver.
For you shark aficionados, there are seven shark species at Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium – Black-tip reef, Lemon, Nurse, Sandbar, Sandtiger and Wobbegong in the South Pacific Aquarium and Dogfish in the North Pacific Aquarium.
