The epic story by Victor Hugo, Les Mis, is celebrating its 25th year of production. Straight from London, you can see the production in Seattle during its run at Seattle’s 5th Avenue this month!

After an amazing run, popular British theatre producer Sir Cameron Mackintosh is presenting a brand new 25th anniversary production of the legendary musical, Les Misérables. Currently in Portland, OR on its US tour, the production will be in Seattle from August 9 – 27 to kick off The 5th Avenue Theatre’s 2011-12 season.

With the orginial music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, and lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer, there is said to be gorgeous new staging and scenery inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo, according to the official website, http://www.lesmis.com.

Les Misérables is about social injustice, overcoming tragedy, poverty and love in 19th century France. Considered one of the greatest novels of the 1800s, the musical adaptation of the book has been just as popular.

The 5th Avenue Theatre says there are plenty of tickets left, starting at $49. Go to the website at http://www.5thavenue.org for information, showtimes and to purchase tickets.
