Treat your furry friends to a dip in Stewart Heights Pool from 10:00am to 3:30 pm on Saturday, September 10 . The pool is located at 402 East 56th Street, Tacoma, 98404.
It’s the annual Pooch Pool Party. Your pet can doggie paddle with other dogs, ride through the pool’s Lazy River and splash in the sprayground.
There will also be contests for dogs and an agility course, according to the Metro Parks Tacoma website.
And don’t worry, the pool will have been empty of people since Monday, September 5. The chemicals will be turned off, and after the dog’s swim day, the pool will be drained and winterized.
You can reserve a swim spot for your dog at one of the three swim sessions: 10:00am-11:30am, noon-1:30pm or 2:00pm-3:30 pm. To reserve your pet’s spot, you can buy tickets in advance at 253.305.1022.
The shallow end of the pool has a zero depth entry where the pool bottom slopes like a beach providing easy access in and out of the water. The maximum depth of the pool is 4 feet, 3 inches.
Admission is limited to two dogs per person. Entry fee is $10 for the first dog, $5 for the second. Humans are admitted free of charge. Entry may be limited if pool reaches capacity.
When you come, bring some extra pet food to the event for a donation to the Dugan Foundation to support their work establishing Pierce County as a no-kill community.
