The Seattle Mariners’ most beloved announcers, Dave Neihaus, passed away in November, 2010. In his honor, a bigger than life-size bronze statue will be revealed in a private ceremony on Friday, September 15, according to the Mariner’s website.

The artist, Lou Cella, used many photos of Dave Neihaus to portray his expression. The piece was first sculpted in clay and then cast in bronze. Neihaus’ widow, Marilyn and his daughter, Greta, chose Neihaus’ favorite necktie for the statue. It’s a tie covered in little baseballs, according to the Mariners’ site.

Only family and close friends, like Neihaus’ broadcasting partner Rick Rizzs and former Mariners Jay Buhner and Dan Wilson will be present at the unveiling ceremony.

You can see the statute near Safeco’s Section 105 on Friday, September 16, at 5:10pm, when the Mariners take on the Texas Rangers.
