You’re invited to join the Tacoma Wheelmen Bike Club and citizens who work for Tacoma Mobility on Saturday, September 24! As part of Moving Planet 2011, the bicycle club is helping to promote transportation without fossil fuels.

Ride on Tacoma’s planned bike boulevards. Visit resources for eco-friendly living along the ride, including the Tacoma EnviroHouse and the Proctor Farmer’s Market. Decorate your bike to celebrate your hopes for a Clean Planet! Join lots of other cyclists as well as city officials on the 25 mile ride. The first 13 miles of residential streets will, by the end of 2012, receive treatment that will designate them primarily as bike boulevards connecting Westgate Plaza in Tacoma’s West End and Wright Park downtown with Parkland. The complete 26 mile loop can be viewed HERE. Casual riders are welcome to pedal 2, 5 or 10 miles, whatever is comfortable, and wave goodbye when satisfied.

The ride will begin and end at the Narrows Park and Ride at 6th and Skyline in Tacoma. Riders will depart at 9:30am and should return by 1:30pm. The ride is mostly flat, with a few short hills. Be sure to bring your bike helmet.
