Over 2,000 Puget Sound residents will be walking in both Seattle and Tacoma on Saturday, October 8 for the Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes event.

In Seattle, the event is a beautiful 2 or 5-mile scenic walk around Magnuson Park, beginning at 9:00am. In Tacoma, it is a 1.5 or 5-mile walk around Port Defiance Park.

Every dollar raised at both walks will benefit the  American Diabetes Association (ADA), working to prevent and cure diabetes, a disease that affects one in ten Americans, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The American Diabetes Association is currently funding six research projects in Washington state.

For more information about diabetes, go to the American Diabetes Association web site or call 1.800.DIABETES (800.342.2383).
