What’s Closed on Columbus Day

Monday, October 10 is Columbus Day, a holiday for federal workers. It commemorates the date of Christopher Columbus’ landfall in the New World in what is now part of the Bahamas.

Most banks are closed on Monday, October 10. However, Chase Bank and Wells Fargo have announced that they will be open. If you need to do banking on Columbus Day, check out your bank’s online options.

There is no mail service today. Federal offices are closed. The United States Post Office will not be delivering mail.

Washington state schools are running today, however some schools across the US have a holiday today.

It’s also a great day to check out Columbus Day Sales. Many retailers are marking down items in what is considered the biggest sale before Black Friday.
