Toyota Sponsors Free Teen Driver Safety Class October 16 in Auburn

Teens typically rely on parents as their primary driving teachers, even though most parents have no formal training on how to provide that kind of instruction. To help parents and teens with new permits or licenses, Toyota is hosting a FREE, hands-on teen and parent advanced driving skills program. The 2.5 hour program teaches parents how to be strong driving role models and coaches for their teen drivers. Endorsed by the National Safety Council and sponsored by Toyota, this is the first time the national safe teen driving program will be offered in the Seattle area. Classes will be offered at Emerald Downs in Auburn on Sunday, October 16. Classes will be at 8:00am; 9:30am; 11:00am; 1:30pm; 3:00pm; and 4:30pm.

Your teen will experience multiple driving courses and interactive classroom instruction that goes beyond standard driving education courses. The program’s curriculum is designed for teens and parents alike to:

· Learn defensive driving skills and crash avoidance techniques
· Identify and respond to the dangerous driving situations that they encounter daily
· Experience firsthand the dangers of distracted driving and understand the relationship between distraction and reaction time
· Understand vehicle safety features, such as how to engage an anti-lock braking system
