The Alaskan Way Viaduct and the new bypass will open to traffic by midday, Saturday, October 29, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation’s website. The new southern section of the Alaskan Way Viaduct and the bypass near the stadiums will open for drivers by mid-day, Saturday, October 29 – two days earlier than planned.
When it reopens, SR 99 will look and drive very differently. The WSDOT says to be prepared for changes. You can go to http://www.wsdot.wa.gova to watch a simulation video showing what to expect when SR 99 reopens.
WSDOT says thank you drivers for their patience during the closure and finding new ways to get around on their website.
