Guide to Volunteer Opportunities This Thanksgiving

Want to get your family involved in giving back this Thanksgiving? There are things you can do at local charities, and there are big ways you can help right from your home.

YMCA Thanksgiving Baskets

Help provide a wholesome, nutritious Thanksgiving meal for families in our programs and community! We will be accepting non-perishable food contributions and once food baskets are collected, they will be put into decorative pick up boxes. Bring a food basket(s) to the Lake Heights Center YMCA (12635 SE 56th St Bellevue, WA 98006) between 7:00am – 6:30pm or the Coal Creek Family YMCA between 9:00am – 11:00am and 4:30pm – 6:30pm with the following non-perishable food items:

Canned fruit or vegetables
Potatoes
Stuffing mix
Cranberries
Non-perishable pie crust and/or pie filing
Bisquick or dinner rolls
Jam

Every year the YWCA partners with the community to provide Thanksgiving Baskets to the families in our Central Seattle housing shelters. Donors throughout the Seattle area are matched with families and their wish lists. The baskets never fail to bring smiles and joy to the families and kids living in our Seattle shelters.
