According to a recent report in USA Today, consumers spent $18.7 billion online in the first month of the holiday season this year, from November 1 to December 1. That’s a 15% increase over the same time period last year, according to Web-tracking firm ComScore, says the report.
That statistic should mean a big boost in sales for Monday, December 12 – otherwise known as Green Monday. Green Monday is the start of the biggest internet shopping week of the holidays, according to the Seattle Times. Green Monday, a name eBay came up with, is the second Monday of December. It has been considered the last online order date to safely receive your items in time for Christmas using standard shipping. But according to the Seattle Times report, the “new” biggest internet shopping day might be Friday, December 16 this year. It’s “Free Shipping Day” for many online retailers.
