Like many of us, I was doing some holiday shopping when the customer service agent asked me if I wanted to open a Nordstrom debit card. Another card? I thought. “I really don’t want to open another account,” I said. Then Lori, the Nordstrom customer service agent, told me in easy to understand terms what the Nordstrom debit card was… what it was not… and all of its benefits. Realizing what I’d been missing out on, I signed up with Lori for my new Nordstrom debit card. It’s easy, uses your current bank account, and comes with loads of perks! Here’s what I learned:

A Nordstrom debit card … what is it?

The Nordstrom debit card is one of the card options in the Nordstrom cardholder family. It is a flexible option for Nordstrom customers who may not want another credit card. It links to your existing personal checking account at your current banking institution, while at the same time letting you take advantage of the benefits of Fashion Rewards when shopping at Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, and online at Nordstrom.com.

How do you get a Nordstrom debit card?

Do just what I did – see a salesperson or customer service representative in store at any Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack. Come prepared with your checking account and routing numbers (you don’t even have to void a check)! Once approved (which happens in minutes), you automatically become a Fashion Rewards member and will start earning rewards points towards Nordstrom Notes® that day. Customers who spend $100 or more on their Nordstrom debit card the same day they are approved will also receive a bonus $20 Nordstrom Note in the mail.

What are the perks of a Nordstrom debit card for Nordstrom Stores?

In addition to earning rewards points towards Nordstrom Notes (redeemable for merchandise and/or services in Nordstrom stores), there are a number of other benefits that Nordstrom Fashion Rewards members receive. Depending on the level you achieve, you may be eligible for complimentary alterations, access to concierge service, access to purchase exclusive style experiences, private shopping parties, and an invitation to a Private Holiday Shopping Party. Early Access to pre-shop the anticipated Anniversary Sale is available for all levels of Fashion Rewards members!

Fashion Rewards is a four-level program based on your purchases on your Nordstrom debit card. The more you shop, the more you earn in benefits! For details on the incredible benefits members receive at every level plus Fashion Rewards Terms and Conditions, visit http://www.nordstromfashionrewards.com.

When are Double and Triple Rewards Points Events? Is there a calendar?

Bonus Points Events occur throughout the year and allow Fashion Rewards members to earn rewards points two or three times as fast for their purchases made on their Nordstrom debit cards at Nordstrom or Nordstrom.com. A calendar of events with more information is featured HERE. The next bonus points event is December 26 – 28 during the Men’s Half Yearly Sale. While it is a Men’s sale, Fashion Rewards members earn double rewards points in every department, on every purchase.

Are customer returns to a Nordstrom debit card easy?

Returns using a Nordstrom debit card are no different than returns using other debit cards. When your merchandise to your Nordstrom debit card, the funds are credited back to the linked personal checking account. If more than one return is made on the same day to the Nordstrom debit card, you will see the total sum of the returns in your bank statement.

What can I use my Nordstrom Note(s) for?

Fashion Rewards members receive a $20 Nordstrom Note in the mail each time they reach 2,000 rewards points. Notes are redeemable anywhere in Nordstrom stores, including Nordstrom Spas, restaurants, coffee bars, Nordstrom Rack and Nordstrom.com. Only one Nordstrom Note can be used per online order.

Nordstrom cards are issued by Nordstrom fsb, d/b/a Nordstrom Bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nordstrom, Inc.; subject to approval.
