Pierce County’s annual “Tow and Go” program will assist bar patrons who have had too much to drink. Free 10-mile tows for customers from participating bars and taverns will be available through New Year’s Day, according to the Pierce County website.

Over the past four years, according to Pierce County, 12 people lost their lives in a crash involving an impaired driver in Pierce County during the month of December. More than twice as many people suffered debilitating injuries.

Make sure you have a designated driver lined up if you plan to drink over the holiday weekend. According to the South Puget Sound News, there will be extra DUI patrols in Pierce County through January 2, 2012.
