WA Lawmaker Proposes Tougher DUI Penalties
SEATTLE (AP) — A Washington state lawmaker and two county prosecutors are backing proposed legislation to increase sentencing ranges in drunken driving fatalities.
State Rep. Christopher Hurst of Enumclaw, King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg and Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist scheduled a Wednesday news conference to outline the proposal.
They say the bill will be introduced in the upcoming state legislative session.
In addition to increasing a first-time sentence for vehicular homicide, it would include longer sentences for vehicular assault.
