Man Dies in Fall from Bellevue Escalator

BELLEVUE, Wash. (AP) — A man died early Friday after apparently falling three stories from the atrium escalator at Bellevue’s Lincoln Square, according to the Seattle Times.

Bellevue police Lt. Marsha Harnden said the man was sitting on the escalator’s handrail when he fell about 1:30am. Police believe the death was an accident, and they are investigating whether alcohol played a role.

In 2010, a man jumped to his death inside the atrium of Lincoln Square from the fourth floor, according to the Seattle Times. This now makes four falling deaths at the Bellevue location since 2006.
