According to the Port of Seattle, as of 8:00am PST, one runway/taxiway at SeaTac Airport is open so flights can arrive and depart. The airport had shut down earlier this morning due to ice and weather conditions. You will want to check your airline’s flight status online or contact your airline for any flight delays.
The latest operations update, at 12:00pm PST from Alaska Airlines says,”Challenging conditions persist at Sea-Tac, where the weather conditions continue to evolve. We urge all customers to check their flight status on alaskaair.com BEFORE heading to the airport. At this time, we have only been able to dispatch four flights. We’re working on a plan for the remainder of the day where, together with Horizon Air, we hope to operate as many as 25 flights by 3:00pm weather permitting.
If your flight has been canceled, you may rebook by calling 1-800-ALASKAAIR. Due to the high volume of calls we’re receiving, hold times are longer than normal. We really appreicate your patience as we work to reaccommodate everyone as quickly as possible.
If you’d like to change flights and your flight has NOT been canceled, you may do so at alaskaair.com.”
According to the Seattle Times, Alaska and Horizon Air handle about 50 percent of the flights in and out of Sea-Tac Airport.
Passengers are reporting via social media that other airlines are canceling and delaying flights out of SeaTac as well.
