Seattle Home Show Comes to Century Link Field
Everything from free antique appraisals to the latest in outdoor grills to be featured at the nation’s largest house party! The Seattle Home Show, the largest and oldest home show in the country, opens its doors on Saturday, February 18 for its annual nine-day run. “We’re Having a House Party” is the theme of this year’s Show – and what a house party it will be – with wine tastings, free art and antique appraisals, home product giveaways and more. All this along with the chance to see the latest in home products and design, from appliances to backyard cottages.
Smaller products, more efficient use of space and combining households are just some of the top trends that will be highlighted at this year’s Show. More than 500 home and garden displays by the region’s leading building and design professionals will be featured, making Seattle Home Show 2012 a virtual one-stop shopping center for the Northwest homeowner or renter.
“Whether you rent or own your home, there’s something for everyone at Seattle Home Show 2012,” said Mike Kalian, executive director of Seattle Home Show. “From art and furniture to the top building and financing professionals, Seattle Home Show has it all. And with mortgage rates at an all time low, now is one of the best times ever for would-be homeowners to look at entering into homeownership and remodeling. It’s more feasible than some might think, with many first time homebuyer programs available for as little as 3.5 percent down. All these will be in abundance at Seattle Home Show 2012.”
Among the top headliners of Seattle Home Show 2012 is Dr. Lori, star of Discovery Channel’s Auction Kings, who will be offering show visitors the chance to have their family heirlooms, objects d’arte, yard sale finds and more appraised free of charge. A Ph.D art and antiques appraiser, Dr. Lori is one of the most experienced appraisers today, regularly evaluating more than 20,000 objects each year from almost every art and collectible category. “In particular, with the 50th anniversary of the Seattle World’s Fair this year, memorabilia relating to it and the Space Needle are expected to peak, and now is a great time to bring in any related items for a free appraisal by Dr. Lori,” says Kalian.
Other highlights of Seattle Home Show 2012 include:
– Wine tasting in the garden, a 10,000-square-foot, fully landscaped outdoor living display by London Design Build featuring of a series of garden vignettes with Northwest Asian and English Tudor themes (including six separate decks, four hardscapes, pergolas and water features) surrounded by lush evergreen and spring plantings
