YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) — A young couple who met and fell in love while being treated for cancer married in the basement of Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.
They shared their story this week with the Yakima Herald-Republic.
21-year-old Rodney Conradi proposed on Valentine’s Day, getting down on one knee despite agonizing pain in his legs and spine from Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare form of cancer that causes bone tumors. He and 22-year-old Lynsie Rainford of Bellingham were married two days later.
Rainford is recovering from leukemia. The couple met at Ronald McDonald House while they were being treated at Seattle Children’s Hospital.
