Marysville Cop on Leave After Daughter’s Shooting
MARYSVILLE, Wash. (AP) — The Marysville, WA, police officer whose 7-year-old daughter was fatally shot by a sibling last weekend has been placed on administrative leave during the investigation.
Marysville police identified the man Monday as Officer Derek Carlile. Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said the officer has been with the department since 2009.
The Daily Herald of Everett identified the little girl as Jenna Carlile. The Snohomish County medical examiner says she died of a gunshot wound to the torso. She reportedly is the oldest of four children.
The Camano Island girl was shot Saturday by a sibling who found a loaded gun in the family’s van as it was parked near the Stanwood City Hall. The parents were out of the vehicle at the time, but nearby.
