The Tukwila Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to be hosting the first Healthy EARTH, Healthy YOU 5k Run and Walk. The event course meanders on the historic Duwamish/Green River Trail which borders the Duwamish River. The FUN run is ideal for people of ages and abilities, strollers are welcome. A post-run event will include a river-side restoration project where each participant will have the opportunity to plant a tree or shrub to honor the health of the earth! It’s the 5th annual Earth Day 5k and Alumni Run will be held onnd, 2012 at 10am. The start and finish area is located on the WWU campus track. This event is open to everyone and anyone. It’s a 5k run/walk through Point Defiance Park. The race begins on Five Mile Drive and finishes at Owen Beach with terrain consisting of road and trails. The Earth Day 5k is dedicated to putting on an event that helps support the environment and the health of the community. Each participant will receive a sapling tree to plant! The run supports the community’s health by providing an opportunity for fun engaging cardiovascular exercise, and a social opportunity for community members to come together. Register online.
