SEATTLE (AP) — Six men have been arrested in a gun trafficking sting in Renton.
U.S. Attorney Jenny Durkan says the men sold semi-automatic assault rifles, sawed-off shotguns, handguns and even a silencer to a person who was working with the Seattle Police Department’s gang unit, the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
The men were scheduled to make their first appearance in U.S. District Court in Seattle on Wednesday afternoon. Prosecutors say four of them had prior felony records, and thus they’re charged with being felons in possession of firearms in addition to firearm trafficking.
Police seized 25 weapons as part of the investigation.
If convicted the men face up to ten years in prison.
