Seattle Man Shot By Stray Bullet Worked For Zillow
SEATTLE (AP) — The man fatally shot by a stray bullet while he and his family drove down a Seattle street was a software developer at a number of Seattle high tech companies, including Zillow, Microsoft and Expedia.
Justin Ferrari, 43, was killed when a stranger started shooting Thursday afternoon in Seattle’s Central Area. Seattle police say the gunman’s intended target was another person involved in a dispute with the gunman.
Ferrari and his family had been preparing for the holiday weekend. His two young children were in the car, along with his parents, who had just flown into town.
Zillow issued a statement on Friday expressing sadness about his death.
“His passing will be felt deeply by his co-workers and friends. Our hearts go out to his family,” the company said.
Ferrari also worked at Expedia and Microsoft for many years before joining Zillow three months ago, the company said.
Seattle police detectives were looking for a man in his 20s.
Ferrari’s death was the second random killing in Seattle in about a month.
In late April, a 21-year-old woman who recently moved to Seattle from Albuquerque, N.M., to pursue her dream of becoming a chef died of injuries suffered in an apparently random drive-by shooting near downtown. No arrests have been made.
