Based in Seattle, Thistle Theatre is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating unique and diverse puppet theatre productions for the entire family. Founded in 1991, by Jean Enticknap, Thistle Theatre is the only puppet theatre in the Pacific Northwest that specializes in a distinctive variation of Bunraku, an ancient style of puppetry from Japan. Beautifully hand-crafted puppets come to life in original productions and adaptations of folk tales from around the world. Dressed all in black, two or three puppeteers work together to operate one puppet emphasizing the realistic movement and emotion of the character, the primary characteristic of Bunraku puppetry.

Seattle Children’s Theatre (SCT) is the second largest resident theatre for young audiences in North America. Their programs empower young people to make new discoveries about themselves and the world around them while building a lifelong interest in the arts. Producing award-winning musical theater in Tacoma since 1994, TMP presents 6 mainstage productions each season, and the TCMT stages 3 additional musicals specifically for family audiences. TMP productions are generally suitable for ages 6 and above, however parental discretion is always advised. Parental Guidelines are provided online for some TMP productions, and complimentary booster seats are available upon request from the House Managers or Ushers.

The theatre presents 10 performances throughout the year, offering opportunities targeted for youth ages 11 to 19, while including other community members of all ages. Separate academy, workshop and day camp programs are also offered. Today the Bellevue Youth Theatre is a place where skills are learned, talents are discovered, creativity is expressed and community is strengthened. Most importantly, it is a place where everyone has a role.
