SEATTLE (CBS Seattle/AP) — Windy, wet weather has caused a large tree to crash into an apartment building in Kirkland, damaging several units.
Kirkland fire officials say the eight-unit building was evacuated after the tree hit Thursday evening.
No one inside the building was hurt. Property manager Linda Reoh says an elderly couple on the top floor had a close call and seemed to be in shock so they were sent to a hospital to be checked out.
Residents won’t be allowed back in until the tree is removed and building inspectors can assess the damage.
