Seattle Man Receives 11-Year Prison Term For Drug Trafficking

SEATTLE (AP) — A man described as a key player in a drug trafficking ring that smuggled cocaine and other drugs between Canada and Washington state has received an 11-year prison term.

The Justice Department says 40-year-old Ruben Camacho-Contreras, a Mexican citizen, was the second in command of a prolific drug trafficking organization. He was arrested in May 2011 and sentenced Friday in Seattlefor conspiracy to distribute cocaine.

Chief U.S. District Judge Marsha J. Pechman said Camacho-Contreras likely would be deported after his prison term.

Federal prosecutors say the drug organization cocaine and methamphetamine from California into Washington and across the border into Canada. It also distributed marijuana and ecstasy from Canada into Western Washington and to other U.S. locations.
