Freedom Fair activities kick off with Military Appreciation Night at Cheney Stadium on Friday June 29, Wings & Wheels on Sunday, July 1 and the Tacoma Freedom Fair & Air Show will entertain thousands again on the shores of Commencement Bay on the Ruston Way Waterfront on the Fourth of July!
Come to honor and pay tribute to our dedicated military personnel, past and present as the Tacoma Rainiers take on the Las Vegas 51s at Cheney Stadium. On Friday, June 29, you’ll witness the Tacoma Rainiers game, military displays, a special tribute to our armed forces & a giant fireworks display after the game. Tickets are on sale HERE.
On Sunday, July 1, from 11:00am – 5:00pm, Wings & Wheels will be back for a second year in 2012 on the Gig Harbor side of the Narrows Bridge, at the Tacoma Narrows Airport. It’s an aviation event with a car and motorcycle show – featuring live entertainment, race cars, WWII B-17 Flying Fortress offering aircraft rides and tours, helicopter rides, amazing cars and aircraft, and the Smoke ‘N’ Thunder Jet Dragster making a 300 mph run down the runway!
You’ll thrill to the roar of the engines as some fly over and you’ll have the opportunity to see beautiful aircraft up close. This is a chance to rub shoulders with the pilots who will dazzle you with their daring and precision flying skills on July 4. Vendors, military displays, and entertainment will be going on throughout the day.
Then, if you are looking for spectacular air show entertainment, great food, live music, classic cars, and let’s face it, the biggest and best all-day family event of the year – Tacoma’s annual Fourth of July Freedom Fair on Ruston Way! On Wednesday, July 4, between 1:30pm and 3:30pm the Tacoma Freedom Fair Airshow will take to the skies over Commencement Bay with some of the best aviation acts in the country. Plus, there will be live music, kids’ activities, a BMX bike show, an International Marketplace, food booths, a car show and much, much more.
There will be Freedom Fair shuttle busses running on July 4 from the Tacoma Dome and Tacoma Community College. Yellow Freedom Fair Express Bus fares will be $5 round trip for adults (18 and up) and $3 for kids. Just park free at one of the designated Park-n-Ride lots and ride the bus to the main entrance of the Freedom Fair at North 30th and McCarver Street in Old Town Tacoma.
