The 28th annual Walla Walla Sweet Onion Festival hits the streets of Downtown Walla Walla on Saturday and Sunday, July 14 and 15. The festival is centered around the Walla Walla Valley Farmer’s Market. Many of the events the community has come to love will be returning, in addition to a number of exciting new events debuting this year.
Mainstays such as the Sweet Onion Fun Run, live kitchen demonstrations by some of the region’s top chefs, the Kids Zone, and the festival concert series will carry over. New this year are a Walla Walla Sweet Onion eating competition, multiple food competitions that will engage local cooks, a sidewalk coloring competition and an onion beauty pageant pitting local growers against one another.
Leading up to the Festival is Sweet Onion Restaurant Week. From July 9 through July 15, locally owned Walla Walla restaurants will be crafting special menus for the week and you can try some amazing new creations incorporating the Sweet Onions! Special prices, too. Click HERE to find participating restaurants.
The Sweet Onion Festival will take place in downtown Walla Walla, near 4th and Main Streets. For lodging information, the Chamber of Commerce website has many listings from hotels to bed and breakfasts HERE.
