Washington is the largest supplier of cherries in the United States, and exports them to places like China, Korea, Australia, Brazil and Japan. July is the perfect month for picking this gorgeous (and tasty) Washington fruit! Here are some of our favorite u-pick spots.

Hauck’s has been a family owned and operated orchard since 1987. They use eco-friendly and organic practices in growing and maintaining their orchard. In June and early July you’ll find sweet cherries and pie cherries that are U-pick.

Bill’s Berry Farm is a small family farm located in the beautiful Yakima Valley of eastern Washington. They specialize in ‘Farm Fresh Produce and Family Fun’ and would love to have your family come pick some of their fruit fresh from the field! Bring the family and a picnic to enjoy under the farm’s beautiful shade trees, play on our two playgrounds. Be sure to check the website or call in advance to see what’s ripe before you arrive.

Head to Barrett Orchards’ Big Red Barn with the kids. They’ll help you grab a pail and find some of the best cherries on their acreage! The 2012 season is looking great, with lots of cherry varieties like Bing, Lapin, Skeena, Rainier, Royal Ann, Lambert and Sweetheart! Plus, Saturday and Sunday, July 7 and 8 you are invited to join Barrett Orchards as they celebrate their annual Cherry Festival!

Stutzman Ranch is a 100 year old family farm featuring u-pick fruit in season. The cherries are ready for picking! Hours are 9:00am – 3:00pm daily. Minimum $5/per adult to enter orchard. Children 12 and under/free. Bing Cherries 1.50/lb, and Rainier Cherries 2.50/lb. Bring your kids! They will enjoy seeing all the farm animals and romping through the orchard.

A family owned orchard 20 minutes north of Spokane, WA. Cherry Hill is dedicated to modern, environmentally friendly growing practices that protect your family and help preserve the Green Bluff soil. Cherry Hill offers Green Bluff Bing Cherries, Rainier Cherries and Pie Cherries for u-pick. Plus their cherry trees are trimmed low so you even your little ones can pick cherries more easily. The season is expected to start on Friday, July 13. Call or check the website before you head to the orchard.
