(CBS Seattle) — For the third time in his career, Seattle Mariners ace Felix Hernandez has been selected to represent his team at Major League Baseball’s All-Star game.
This season’s game takes place on July 10 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.
“King Felix” has a 6-5 record with a 3.09 ERA in 16 starts. He is tied for second in the A.L. in strikeouts with 114 and has tossed three games with 10 or more strikeouts. His WHIP (walks and hits per inning average) is just 1.22.
Hernandez was the only Mariners player selected this year.
He represented Seattle in last year’s game along with pitcher Brandon League and former Mariners starter Michael Pineda. 2012 also marks the second year in a row ten-time All-Star Ichiro Suzuki has not been selected.
