The Seattle Times and Seattle PI have announced the death of one of Seattle’s most loved entertainers, Chris Wedes, who played clown J.P. Patches. Wedes was 84, and died Sunday morning after a six year battle with cancer.

His local television show, the JP Patches show, ran on KIRO-TV from 1958 – 1981.

JP Patches gave his last public performance in Seattle in September, 2011, according to the Seattle PI.
