Federal Way will host the World Championship Of Sand Sculpting’s Tournament of Champions 2012 from Thursday, August 16 through Sunday, September 3. The tournament brings some of today’s top stars in the world of museum-quality art to the Pacific NW.

Now you’ll have the opportunity to see some of the best Sand Sculpting Artists in the world create masterpieces in front of your eyes.

See a select group of sand sculptors showcase their talents in the largest exhibition of its kind in North America at the Commons Mall parking lot in Federal Way, just south of Seattle. These jury-selected sand sculpting masters are chosen from the top 10% of international sand sculptors using a variety of criteria including tenure and talent.

This will be fun for the whole family with tons of activities, including a giant sand box for the kids, full of toys, buckets and fun.

Sand Sculpting lessons daily for the general public. Learn techniques from the Masters! Get instructions and tools, and pick up tricks to impress your friends on the beach, or in your back yard.

Quick Sand, quick carving competitions in the afternoons. A subject is chosen by the audience or drawn from a hat then two sculptors go heads up in ten minute grudge match carving showdowns. The winner is chosen by applause and advances to the next round.

Master Sculptor and painter John Gowdy will spin a giant canvas and throw paint, creating awesome artwork creating paintings that feature Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, Bob Marley to name a few. Come and see what he comes up with this time.

Put Yourself in the picture with the display sculptures! Have your photo taken in front of a sculpture with your name carved on it. Think family 2012 Christmas card!

There are Food and Craft vendors, convenient parking, and much more. For detailed information, check out the website at http://www.worldchampionshipofsandsculpting.com.

The Commons Mall is located at:
