Boy, 13, Accused In Attacks On Homeless In Oregon

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Police say a 13-year-old boy is one of two people accused of attacking homeless people in southeast Portland.

Sgt. Pete Simpson says the investigation began Wednesday when a 41-year-old man arrived on a woman’s porch bleeding from a head injury. He told officers he had been hit in the back of the head while setting up his sleeping bag in Woodstock Park.

Officers located two other homeless people with injuries not considered life-threatening.

Investigators arrested the 13-year-old boy along with 20-year-old Elijah Lawson. Both have been charged with assault.

Lawson was booked into the county jail and the 13-year-old was lodged at the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Center.
