PATEROS, Wash. (AP) — Fire crews in north-central Washington are fighting a new wildfire that has burned across a square mile of brush in Douglas County near the Columbia River.
KHQ-TV reported Wednesday night that residents have left two homes in the area.
There was no immediate containment information on the 700-acre fire. The cause is under investigation.
The sheriff’s office says the fire is burning near Crane Orchard Road, across the river from the city of Pateros.
