Best U-Pick Peaches in Washington

It’s time for those yellow, fuzzy, juicy peaches! We’ve waited all year for peach cobbler, peach ice cream and peach pie! Washington grows some of the most delectable peach varieties, too! Whether it’s at the market or in the orchard, here are places you can go to pick a pail of peaches!

Metropolitan Market Locations in Puget Sound are once again celebrating their annual Peach-O-Rama from now through Tuesday, August 21. For some of the best local peaches, without the drive to Eastern Washington, you can find up to 10 varieties of this juicy summer fruit.

Let’s pick Peaches! Starting Saturday, August 11, the U-pick Red Haven Peaches will be ready for you to pick. They are going at $0.65/pound. There’s a $5 minimum U-pick fruit purchase per adult to enter orchard. Children 12 and under free! White flesh nectarines are $.65/lb. so each adult would need to pick 7.69 lbs of nectarines to cover the $5.00 minimum. The next peach variety is Red Globe. You can pick those beginning in late August. Open daily from 9:00am – 6:00pm.

Heading to Yakima? Stop by the big red barn at Barrett Orchard. August is a great time to pick Early Red Havens and a few other peach varieties. They are sweet and juicy and ready for eating! There are also fresh apricots at the orchard. Plus, try a Peach Smoothie, or Homemade Ice Cream before you head home.

Smith’s Hilltop Orchard is all u-pick with loads of ripe peaches of many different varieties, including Red Haven, Daroga Red, and Glohaven. Whether you’re thinking pie or cobbler, jam or fresh fruit, there’s a peach for each at Smith’s. Number 2 on the map of Green Bluff Growers, Smith’s has a loyal following and participates in the Green Bluff Growers Peach Festival, which runs from August 18 – September 3.

A family run farm since 1960, there are acres of delicious peaches for you and your kids to pick. Head up to the fruit stand to get a bucket and directions. Next, head out into the orchard, pick as much fruit as you’d like and come back up to the fruit stand. Your buckets will be weighed to see how many pounds of fruit you picked. Then you will empty out your fruit into your own containers to take home. You are charged by the pound for your peaches.
