The Seahawks took a while to find their offense, but got some help from the Dallas Cowboys to go on to a convincing win at Century Link Field today, 27-7. They took advantage of Dallas blunders (a fumbled kickoff return resulting in a Steven Hauschka field goal and blocked punt returned for a TD by Jerron Johnson) to go up 10-0 in the first 5 minutes, but otherwise had trouble getting anything going in the first half. Whatever Pete Carroll gave by way of a pep talk in the locker room worked, as the Seahawk offense came alive in the second. Hauschska added another 3, Marshawn Lynch rushed for 122 yards (only 22 of those in the first half) and a touchdown, and rookie quarterback Russell Wilson threw for 151 yards and a TD pass to Anthony McCoy (his first in the NFL).  The Seahawks get next Sunday off, but face another tough test as the Green Bay Packers come to Century Link for Monday Night Football September 24th. Pete Carroll’s characteristically upbeat comment after today’s game: “That was a really cool day at the stadium”.

Nobody’s calling our division the  “NFC Worst” anymore. The Seahawks dominated a very good Dallas Cowboy team in their home opener, The Phoenix Cardinals who the ‘Hawks lost to last week beat New England 20-18 at Foxborough, The San Francisco 49ers went to 2-0 beating the Lions 27-19, and even the lowly St. Louis Rams came out on top of the Washington Redskins and an electric Robert Griffin III 31-28.
