Whether your child just needs a creative outlet or wants to become the next Jackson Pollack, there are art studios around the Sound that can help encourage and teach your child (and you!) various art forms and techniques. Here are some of our favorites.

Arts Aloft

Arts Aloft is an art studio for kids in the Madrona neighborhood, specializing in mixed media for 4-12 year olds. You can sign your child up for an after school class, or just drop in for some creative fun. Classes typically run for 7 weeks and you can jump in at any time. Kids will have projects using paints, clay, pencils, plaster, mosaics and other fun artsy materials suitable for their ages. Roaring Mouse Creative Arts Studio

Roaring Mouse has been teaching art to kids and adults since 1989. In their Ravenna studio since 2004, Roaring Mouse offers two preschool programs, early childhood creative arts classes, after school classes for elementary aged students, and evening classes for tweens, teens and adults. Your child will be encouraged to use tools and techniques of the art world, and be exposed to mediums like painting, collage, drawing, and sculpture. Thrive Art School

Kids with confidence to accomplish anything – that’s the goal at Thrive Art School. With two studios, in Seattle’s Madison Valley and Ravenna neighborhoods, there are plenty of classes for kids, teens and adults to get their creative juices flowing. Thrive offers classes that meet once a week and run ongoing from September through June. You can join a class at any time during the year on a space available basis. Young at Art

Young at Art offers creative art workshops for children and adults, an open studio to experience art, and a wonderful space to celebrate your child’s next birthday party and art gallery. Locally owned, Young at Art is scheduled around the school year. Parents of kids ages 7 – 12 can sign their child up for a drop-in art class, then enjoy a short break to run errands! Open studio is available for kids and their parents to come in and try out the art making tools and materials for a fun day of creativity. Adult and kids classes are available. Open Arts Studio is a school of the arts where traditional and modern techniques of fine art are taught in a safe and non-competitive environment. Kids are given the tools and freedom to express their growing creativity, using three fundamental elements: technique, creativity and fun.
