12-Year Old Redmond Boy Accidentally Hangs Himself

King County Sheriff’s spokeswoman, Cindi West, says a child fatally hung himself by accident Wednesday while using a zip line. According to a report from Q13Fox.com, the family had the zip line installed at their home. The zip line was approximately 100 feet long and 25 feet above the ground.

West told KOMO News that investigators are figuring out how it happened and whether the boy’s helmet straps may have contributed to the accident.

KOMO News reported the kid’s mother thought he was riding his bike and that when she went to look for him, she found him on the zip line. According to the KOMO report, the incident occurred around 2:30pm at the boy’s home in the 8800 block 255th Avenue NE.

An investigation is being conducted by authorities. King County Sheriff spokeswoman Cindi West tweets that she is headed to the scene.
