Facebook Page Dedicated To Publicizing ‘Tacoma Snitches’
TACOMA, Wash. (CBS Seattle/AP) — A Facebook page dedicated to publicizing “snitches” in the Tacoma area is being watched by law enforcement.
Officials say the information posted on “Tacoma Snitches” is public information available in media reports and court documents.
But KOMO News reports that police are monitoring the page.
The person that created the site said on the page that he is tired of “weak a** n***** that be out here in the streets snitchen (sic) on everyone.”
Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist says should the chatter on the page escalate to threats, his office will look into it. However there is concern that someone’s information put on the page could become a target of retaliation.
“If it escalates to a point where it’s criminal, we absolutely will prosecute it, because we take the safety of our witnesses, and the integrity of the justice system very seriously,” Lindquist told KOMO.
The page was created Sept. 14. Its “about” page says “if you know of any snitches put them on blast on here.”
Site administrators at Tacoma Snitches didn’t respond to a request for comment from KOMO.
