GRESHAM, Ore. (CBS Seattle) — A local man flew into what police referred to as a “McFury” after workers at a McDonald’s restaurant accidentally put onions on his burger.
The trouble reportedly began Sunday afternoon, when 50-year-old Jayme John Leon ordered a quarter-pounder without onions.
He initially left peacefully with his food, but called the restaurant soon after his departure upon discovering the mistake in his order.
According to The Oregonian, an employee told Leon over the phone that his money would be refunded, and a new burger would be given to him upon his return.
When he came back, however, he only had his beverage. He had reportedly eaten the first burger he was given.
“Since he ate the quarter pounder, McDonald’s would not refund his money, sending … Leon into a McFury,” Sgt. Claudio Grandjean, Gresham Police spokesman, told the paper.
When he was informed that he would not be receiving the promised refund and free burger, he allegedly became irate, throwing a soda into the manager’s face and breaking a cash register before leaving again.
Police soon caught up with Leon, and arrested him on charges of first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree disorderly conduct, and harassment, The Oregonian learned.
He was then reportedly held at the Multnomah County Jail before eventually being released on his own recognizance.
