It’s the 4th Annual Tacoma Green Day on Saturday October 20. From 10:00am until 1:00pm you are invited to bring your family and join in on community restoration and lots of fun! For the first time ever, Green Tacoma Day will wrap Tacoma’s Arbor Day celebration and Metro Parks’ Fall Tree Festival with the celebration of Tacoma’s open and natural greenspaces.

Celebrate National Public Lands Day in Tacoma by helping protect and restore your favorite park, gulch or shoreline. Work at your favorite family spot or check out a place you have never explored before! Hub sites include Point Defiance, Swan Creek, Wapato Hills, and Julia’s Gulch.

Activities at Point Defiance include:
Kid’s tree climbing
Art activities including Poet-tree (featured at last year’s Arbor Day event downtown)
Tree tai chi
Coupons for discounts on trees at local nurseries and TAGRO coupons
Ask an Arborist booth
Commemorative planting of cherry trees
Presentation of Tacoma’s 19th Tree City USA award and Tacoma Power’s 9th Tree Line USA award by the Commissioner of Public Lands to Mayor Strickland

Be part of Point Defiance Park’s history as the Honorable Consul General of Japan presents the citizens of Tacoma with a gift of flowering cherry trees to be planted in the Japanese garden surrounding the Pagoda Point Defiance Park.
