Space Needle Is Turning Green With New Design

(CBS Seattle) – Seattle-native Nicole Commins is officially the first person to ever have his or her personal design painted on top of the Space Needle’s roof.

Commins’ design called “trees” racked up the most votes in this year’s #TopThis roof contest — a competition to commemorate the iconic structure’s 50-year anniversary. Designs from all over the country were submitted to Space Needle officials in August and then narrowed down to just six for a public vote at the end of September.

Commins’ design will be on the roof from October 2012 through April 21st of next year.
