Woman Charged With DUI, Neglect After Sleeping In Car While Son, 2, Looked For Halloween Costume

PORTLAND, Ore. (CBS Seattle) – Police arrested a local woman on charges of drunk driving and child neglect after they found her passed out in a car while her two-year-old son wandered in search of a Halloween costume.

According to the Oregonian, Portland authorities found Cassandra Kimmel, 28, in an inebriated state when awakened from sleeping in her car.

The mother reportedly admitted to police that she had taken oxycodone pills for her toothache that morning before consuming several vodka and lemonade drinks.

Police told the paper that Kimmel was intoxicated to the point of needing medical attention, and had to be taken to an ambulance on a gurney.

Kimmel was reportedly booked into jail and released the next night, then was arraigned at the Multnomah County Circuit Court.
