PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A powerful storm is expected to continue Monday along the coast and in northwestern Oregon, bringing several inches of rain, damaging winds and flooding.
The Oregon Department of Transportation said U.S. 101 was closed north of Gearhart in Clatsop County because a tree fell on power lines, and high water blocked all but trucks in a flood-prone area south of Seaside.
The Weather Service said a spotter reported a gust peeled back the roof of a restaurant in Newport.
The storm disrupted marine traffic as the U.S. Coast Guard closed the bar Sunday at the Columbia River. The bars at the Umpqua River, Tillamook Bay and Depoe Bay also were closed.
The regional forecast is for cooler, snowier weather Tuesday and Wednesday with another storm system late in the week.
