It’s the last mile of the year, so get your decorated hats, shoes, costumes on to kick 2012 to the curb! This event will lead the First Night Tacoma kick-off parade. Cost is only $5/person, and includes a Blue Ribbon and free beverage with meal purchase at Varsity Grill after the 1 mile run. Fun for the whole family, ages 4+.

The first day of 2013 will be one to remember. Seattle is one among many cities setting out to do a 5K for better health. Men, women, families, co-workers and neighbors are making a commitment to live a healthy lifestyle while helping others do the same. The simultaneous 5K run/walk will span 35 cities. Participants will receive a Limited Edition Commitment Day T-shirt and a 2013 Commemorative Commitment Journal. Kids under 18 run FREE. Register online.

It’s the annual Resolution Run 5K and optional Polar Bear Dive! This 5K run/walk takes place in Seattle each January 1st, with the optional polar bear dive within 100 yards of the finish line. There’s also a FREE kids’ dash, and awards ceremony. The Post-Race Celebration will include free chili and free hot chocolate. Plus, those 21 and over can celebrate the New Year in the onsite beer garden. Those who choose to participate in the Polar Bear Dive can enjoy heated changing rooms and can warm at the fire pits.
