(CBS Seattle) - The teasing is over for the strong, dedicated — incredibly anxious — fan base of San Diego’s soul-punk-”you name it” band Rocket from the Crypt. Frontman Speedo (also known as John Reis) announced via Facebook and Swami Records (his record label) that the hiatus is over and the band will be playing five shows in Europe.
The five dates include stops in Berlin, Germany; Tampere, Finland; Paris, France; Lake Geneva, Switzerland; and Barcelona, Spain.
Several picture hints had been coming out of the Rocket camp for the past several weeks and the latest may have been a dead giveaway. The image showed the RFTC rocket logo launching from San Diego into five European countries.
In Speedo’s “press release” he denied an ongoing rumor of the band playing Indio, California’s spring festival, Coachella. He also provided a questionnaire to coincide with the news that stated the band would also be putting out a new album by Foo Fighters frontman and former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl. However, Dave Grohl has been a name tossed around in Wednesday’s news because of the reported Paul McCartney-fronted Nirvana reunion happening in New York, meaning the validity to the “new album” statement may not hold up. Regardless, RFTC fans across the globe are smiling.
